More Whingeing
It's not as bad as I thought. It's a bit worse.
Not only am I scheduled to work for that Sunday three weekends down the road, but I'm also scheduled for the two Sundays before it. I spoke with the manager, and realized the whole thing was due to a misunderstanding on both our parts. I was under the impression that I'd only be working weekdays. She was under the impression that since I am not working on Tuesdays (because of dance classes), that she was doing me a favour by scheduling me for a full 40 hours a week. She is a sweetie, so I do believe she meant well.
So I am stuck working this Sunday, but I'm able to start a couple of hours later (at 9am, instead of 7). As for the other two weekends, I'm to attempt to find someone to cover for me. And if I can't find someone, then she's going to see what she can do to fix things. But I won't have to work on those days. Phew....
Last night at work was pretty bad, though. One of our regulars came in drunk and belligerent. My supervisor asked me if he was being threatening, but I said, "No. I didn't feel threatened. But he was being a total asshole, and I hope he doesn't come back." He didn't, which is good, because I was on the verge of unleashing venom on him. I also changed all the outdoor garbages, which is a filthy, stenchy enterprise filled with rancid coffee cream, angry wasps, and wading through cars driven by unobservant drivers focused only upon getting their caffeine fixes. Right up until the last hour of my shift, I was on the cusp of handing in my resignation.
But I really can't do that until
f00dave has a job. I have to wait, but it shouldn't be for too much longer. And then, once he gets his job, I can quit this one and find myself something part-time and get back to my dance/martial arts/movement studies. Because of my work schedule and getting settled in to the new apartment, my gym attendance has been very spotty for the past while, and my muscles are falling off again.
In other news, last night, I gave myself a lobotomy.
...in my vampire Dark Ages game, of course!
I love being horrid to my characters. It's so cathartic!

Anyone have any lines on coding-type jobs I've not already applied for*, before I start applying at Tim's, myself? -hopeful look-
* ... and not heard back about. WTF is up with that? Apparently that's normal around here for IT stuff. Fucking weird.

Try attending one of the many techie community meetings hereabouts. Communitech, the Microsoft .NET Users Group, etc. You can always meet people there. The best way to get hired around here is to know someone who knows someone who can hire you.

And yes, that whole networking thing ... -sigh- Soon, I hope!

I haven't been commenting, Shan, as I have been scary busy, but I've been keeping up with the Tim's Saga.
Hang in there, both of you. :)
