Turgid, Tumescent, and Throbbing
Jun. 12th, 2003 05:20 pmMy leg is still swollen, but not nearly as badly as it was yesterday. I kept my foot elevated for plenty of hours, and even slept with my foot pulling an Edmund Hillary on a Mount Everest of pillows and blankets. Because I often sleep on my belly, this meant I was working on my arabesques in my sleep.
The doctor didn't tell me anything fabulously interesting. Basically, she told me to keep the foot elevated, and use ice from time to time. I should also avoid getting hit in that spot until it's healed. Any pressure burns. She had no explanations for why my leg decided to bloat like a sea cucumber. Ah, the vaguaries of modern medicine....
I have discovered it's almost impossible for me to keep awake while laying down. I armed myself with a good book, but to no avail. Every time I lay down and raise my leg, my eyes get super-duper heavy, and the next thing I know, I've fallen asleep.
What a waste of time.
Tonight I teach my dance class and then do a kung fu class. I wonder what we'll be doing (in both classes!). Last week, I covered some floorwork and travelling steps in dance class. Maybe this week we'll work more on arms and combinations. Tuesday's kung fu class was a kicking extravaganza. Maybe today will be punching. That would make sense, wouldn't it?
