Supah Fly!
Jul. 31st, 2003 11:29 pmThe flies! The flies! They're everywhere! What the heck is going on? They kept waking me up all night by landing on my face and buzzing in my ears, and the kitchen looks like a fly factory. Maybe it's the recyclables. I'll take the bottles to the exchange, and hope the flies follow me.
I'm beginning to feel like I'm being stalked by a Baali.
I spent the afternoon bumming around town with Heather, a habituée of Smash Your Head Against the Cage. She flew in from Montréal today. I think she did much more walking today than she's used to. I hope the heat didn't get to her! It was pretty hot out, and both of us were overdressed.
Tonight's kung fu class was terrific! We worked on legs, and almost an hour was spent specifically on leg stretches. I reached new plateaux tonight. I learned that, with the help of a partner, I can stretch a sidekick perfectly perpendicular to the floor. Holy cow! I felt like a superstar! And I think that with a very little work, with my back to a wall, I could do a front kick so high that I could kick the wall behind me. I was only a few inches away from doing it, and my partner was able to do it. Whoa! In one other stretch, while my face and body were pressed against the wall, my partner raised my left leg behind me so that it was parallel to the floor. She then slowly brought it around to my right side until I was kicking the wall. I know I could go even further than that, but the wall got in the way. Then we did the same thing with my other leg.
My legs and arse felt pretty darned disassociated from the rest of me, afterwards. It was rather surreal. I wish I could do these kinds of stretches every day!
