shanmonster: (Shake it)
Tonight's kung fu class ended an hour early so we could have a good send-off party for Stacy. She's moving to Halifax this weekend, and we'll all miss her. No one hits quite like she does. I have a lot of bruises courtesy of her. Heh...

Anyhow, we went down to Dolan's pub for a few drinks, and we were sitting out on the patio. There were about fifteen kung fu folks, at our peak time. Somewhere around this fifteen martial artists time, a mean-faced guy came up and tried to start a fight with one of us. Our Sifu stood up to talk with the trouble-maker, and he started getting nastier. He was making threats and overtures for a fight.

He looked over at Dabney, the smallest guy in the group, and said, "Do you want to fight?"

Dabney shrugged, stood up, and perkily said, "Sure!"

I know he was disappointed that a fight didn't materialize.

A whole bunch of us got up to get that guy under control, but luckily for him, he was spirited away by two burly bouncers. I couldn't help but laugh. We were all itching for a fight, because we didn't get our sparring in tonight. Could he have picked a worse group to fight with in the whole city, I wonder?

Today I changed my workout routine a bit. Instead of doing two sets of twelve on the weights, I'm doing three sets of ten. I feel a big difference. I also switched my tricep pulldowns from an M-bar (I think that's what it's called) to a rope. I had to lower the weight significantly, when I did this. Yeowch! My workout was cut short by a prior commitment. f00 and I met with Kathryn in order to do a photoshoot.

We took a bunch of photos at the extremely creepy old Fredericton hospital. We were in the dimly-lit, dank service tunnels and corridors. Hopefully, some of those shots will turn out nicely. Afterwards, we did a series of pictures inside the Cathedral. I'd never been in there before. It's gorgeous. The Catholics really know how to pile on ostentation to a wondrous degree. The handicrafts are beautiful, from the hand-tatted lace wall-hangings to the handcarved stone baptismal font. The stained glass cast beautifully-tinted light down on us, and I felt like I was a brightly-coloured particle inside God's kaleidoscope.

I'm really not certain what's going on tonight. Girl Jodie is coming over, and we might barbeque some chicken then watch The Wizard of Oz. I haven't seen it in years, and I've also had a hankering to read the novels again. I remember reading them as a child, and finding them deliciously creepy. I know I greatly enjoyed reading Wicked a few years back.

In other news, I have a bright red crop of new bruises courtesy of Dabney in kung fu, last night. Ouchies.
