shanmonster: (Lost in a velvet morass)
Within ten minutes of exercises, I was pretty sure kung fu was going to kick my ass. I couldn't keep up with the class during the kicking exercises, and these are usually my forte. I guess the dregs of that noisome cold are really keeping me whupped. However, halfway through the class, our exercises became less aerobic. We worked on sticky hands, which I absolutely adore. If I had the willing partner(s), I'd love to practice this every single day.

Although I really like kung fu, I wouldn't say it's necessarily much fun. Sticky hands, however, is a blast! I had a big cheesy grin the entire time I was doing it. We were just trying to touch one another's chins all while never losing contact with one another's arms. It really does get you to work through a lot of technique, all without ever having to think about technique, per se.

All the green sashes (including myself) got together at the end of the class and went through Gunji four times at full intensity. My heart was pounding so hard I thought my eardrums would burst. I really did put all of my power into them, tonight. My legs are still trembling, and the soles of my feet feel exactly the same as if they were almost frost-bitten and then I dunked them in hot water. Yow!

I need to find myself a decent pair of sneakers. The stomps are awfully hard on bare feet.
