Last night's dance class went well. Eight students wriggled about at my insistence, and I think we got somewhere. I had them all working on hip articulations, starting off with using our hips to write the alphabet, then moving up to the shoulders to help wake everything up. I then got everyone to work with balancing canes, but after a while, made everyone put the canes away, because the looks of frustration were getting a bit frightening. I think we'll do some more with the canes next week. It's definitely a practice kind of thing.
When we worked on shimmies, I lost track of the time and ran a bit over. I'm afraid my end-of-the-class stretches were truncated. That's what happens when I get a paltry hour with which to teach a dance class.
Hey,
Kathryn,
Lynsey, and
Elanya! Do any/all of you like to do a little dance demo for the class? If so, let me know. I think the beginners would really enjoy it, and it would show them what they will eventually be able to do if they stick with it.
