I'm Going Back to Hali
Oct. 16th, 2003 08:47 pmI've been out of town at dance events/performances every weekend for the past month. This has been wreaking havoc on my schoolwork. Fortunately, Patrick, my metals instructor, was a complete doll and gave me a one-week extension on two assignments. Now I feel like I have a really good chance of getting all my work done!
Last week wasn't enough, so tomorrow I'm returning to Halifax for yet another dance extravaganza. I'll be performing with Freaky Scene at the eighth annual Halifax Experimental Music Festival. If you're in the area and would like to check it out, it's being held between 8:00 pm and 1:00 am at The Church, 5657 North St. For further information you may e-mail Phil Walling or phone (902)479-1459.
While surfing around for information online, I found the following blurb at The Coast:
I wonder who that dancer could be?

An experiment gone horribly right
The eighth annual Halifax Experimental Music Festival is coming your way this October. Event founder and promoter Philip Walling decided to start the festival to provide a spot for him to both play and to promote others interested in non-mainstream tunes. "I wanted to showcase talent with an experimental music inclination not normally found in commercial venues," says Walling, who rarely plays the show himself anymore due to the high volume of interested performers. Artists slated for this year's HEMF include locals Given Elements, David Rimmington, Johnny and the Rockers, Cape Bretoners Leon Dubinsky and crew and Freaky Scene from New Brunswick. It's not just musicians either—last year a dancer who choreographs candles on her abs performed. She's invited back.
