Solder Off
Dec. 8th, 2003 10:13 pmToday, I made up for the last two weeks of crappy work. I was a metal machine! I finished five vagina dentata rings (in the coolest high-gloss black finish), cuttle-cast half of a ring (that looks like it has a big ol' dick on it--to go with the vagina rings, I guess), created a really cool cuttle-cast, hammered, and die-formed pendant with a set hematite, set a faux turquoise cabochon, finished a chrysanthemite pectoral, and am well on my way to completing a peterzite (a pretty brown stone with multicoloured flecks) pectoral with a matching pendant. Phew! Not bad for twelve hours, hmm?
My back is sore, now. All that hunching over the polishing wheel makes for unhappy muscles.
I'm pretty much finished all my homework for the rest of the year. I just have to finish another dance belt for Friday, and put some pretty diagrams and notes in my jewellery book for Monday. The rest of my time is free for experimentation! And that's exactly what the nifty pendant I made today is. I'd like to do more messing around with cuttle casting tomorrow, and also with liver of sulpher. I hadn't realized liver of sulpher could make things look so gosh-darned cool! No one ever told me. I just found out, accidentally.
Hoorah for happy accidents.
