Blah Blah Blah
Jan. 28th, 2004 05:11 pmWow. I've been steadily tapering off my propranalol, and I've been feeling more and more energetic. I hadn't realized just how exanimate I've felt for the past few years until I suddenly became alive again. Before, breaking into a brief jog to get across the street in a hurry was a difficult task. But last night, I was zipping around, leaping across snowbanks without any effort at all. And yesterday at lunch, I was positively loquacious. I can't remember the last time I was so chatty. It was a couple of years ago, at least.
Yesterday, at long last, my student loan papers came in. It's about time. I've been getting pretty desperate for money. The other night, food stores were getting depleted. I looked at the canned "goods" in my cupboard. In an attempt at making do with what I had, I made sardine sloppy joes.
They really weren't very good.
So last night, in celebration of my forthcoming monies, I gathered my rolled nickles, dimes, and pennies, grabbed
f00dave and took him out on a hot date. We went to the mall, where he ate McDonald's (yuck) and I bought a rice bowl at the Teriyaki place. Then I used my credit card to buy tickets for Big Fish, which is a damned fine movie, if a bit saccharine in the soundtrack department.
Then, with that same credit card, I bought groceries! Hoorah for edible food! I sang a made-up song about fresh fruit while walking to the grocery store, and bought some lovely green apples. Mmmm.... Tonight, I won't eat canned food. No sardines for me! Nosirree!
And today, I bought a bunch of abalone disks. They're gorgeous. They look like liquid peacock. No, not as in bird in a blender, you sicko.... I'd like to make myself a really splendid ring with one of them, and maybe a matching pendant, headpiece, or necklace. I'm not sure. But yes, I do want a ring. Maybe even one like I made today.

Yes, I finished something today. It's a silver and Nugold spinning U-shaped ring. It looks something like this, only the shank is sterling silver, and the top is a squat oval cylindar of silver and Nugold. The Nugold is textured. I can't get over how comfortable it is to wear, but it was a real bitch to construct. It's really fiddly to get a correct ring size, unlike a basic band ring which can just be hammered or cut down to the right size. With this style, the top of the ring needs to be resized in addition to the shank. What a pain in the arse. But it's so cool....
