I Have Much To Report
Jun. 10th, 2005 07:33 pmWell, not really. The most exciting thing I can write about would be the fact our carpets were cleaned yesterday. The place was thrown into a tizzy, and the chinchillas went on a warpath in protest of their temporary relocation and in response to the chemical stench of cleaning fluids. They managed to dump a few cups of pine chips all over a chair and the floor, not to mention a hearty helping of their signature pellet turds.
f00dave managed to undo all their hard, furry work with a few swishes of a broom, and now we're in the midst of putting the apartment back together again. I'm in the midst of rearranging the livingroom. I'm hoping the new arrangement will cut down on the glare on my video screen. This way, I won't have to squint at the monitor in the daytime, trying to see where the reflection of the patio leaves off and my virtual dance instructors begin.
Tomorrow morning, I'm planning on busking across from the Farmers' Market with
snowy_kathryn, and whoever else wants to join us. Afterwards, I want to go kayaking, and then I just might go out dancing for the night. It's funny how going out dancing is such a rare thing for me, all things considered. But I find I can't really let loose on a crowded dance floor. I end up hitting everyone with my wayward arms, legs, and hair. I think this is why most club dancing tends to be very, very boring. There's not much room to get experimental, so people end up swaying from one foot to the other, and if they're feeling really creative, they might snap their fingers, too.
Stupid customer trick du jour: After about five or six minutes straight of no calls whatsoever, the phone rings, and I hear a man's very faint voice. The connection is bad. I offer to give him a better telephone number to call, and I strain my ears in order to hear him lie, "I've already waited on hold for ten minutes. I'm not going to do that again." Riiiight. You're not fooling me, mister.
I've been doing a lot of dance window shopping, lately. I'm interested in several DVDs:
Suzanna del Vecchio's Lock, Flutter, and Roll
Celeste's Turbo Shimmy
Leyla Jouvani's 21 Shimmies and 1001 Variations
Aruna's Dancer's Arms
and maybe even Ansuya's Lavish Layers, even though I haven't been especially impressed by her dancing. Still, I like the idea of drilling with layered combinations, and this could give me some structure
I'm also still looking for a good video which can break down the mechanics of locks and pops, hiphop or breakdancing style. Any suggestions?
....
Oooooh. My last call was a doozy. A nasty woman who did her best to get into an argument with me, and fool me into guaranteeing her a rate that was not available. *hate hate hate*
...
There. All better. I just had a picture perfect call with the nicest lady in the world, and I sold her one of the poshest rooms in the hotel by virtue of having stayed there myself. Now, if that isn't reason for the company to put me up in the best rooms of all their hotels, I don't know what is.
