Happy Day of Excitement and Glee
Oct. 22nd, 2005 05:45 pmToday I went to the Farmers' Market and then for coffee with
aberrantmist and
f00dave. Afterwards, we stopped by the Salvation Army where I scored a bitchin' Chinese skull cap, which I'm currently wearing. Then f00 and I walked uptown. I took a few pictures of flora on the way, as did f00. We're working on a project together. Here's a sneak peek.
We continued on to the Fredericton Mall, where we chanced upon an entymology display. The most beautiful bugs were on display, with everything from scorpions, a toad (!?), and stick insects to black widow spiders, tarantulas, and reflective butterflies. My favourites were the gold beetle, leaf insect, the Blue Morpho Butterfly, and the enormous beetles of various types. I like the toad, too. When they're scared, they scream (something I found out while catching one a few years ago).
Afterwards, we went to Trimmings to check out various, er, trimmings, for sewing, but found the store mysteriously vacant. Ack! Someone ate the store!
We chanced upon a mural van in the parking lot. I remember seeing these things everywhere in the 70s and 80s, but they seem to have disappeared over the years as minivans and SUVs have won out over the old-style shaggin' wagons of the past. I did my best to recreate the mood of this one.
I stopped by Winners to have a look-see while f00 purchased a leather punch at Canadian Tire. I picked out a package of chocolate chai (which is YUM), and I spotted this monstrosity. f00 and I think she blew a Smurf.
Undaunted, we continued on to Jingler's, a thrift shop, where we scored bigtime. We found the motherlode of leather to work with. I did a happy dance in the store when I found my Holy Grail: a white leather jacket. My project shall live! We also got a red jacket and a full-length black leather coat. f00's flogger creation shall continue. Anyone want to buy one? The stuff he makes is helluva nice.
I got myself a nice skirt with not-work-acceptable side slits, and briefly tried on a Halloween costume. Damn, but I'm sexy.
Now that I'm home, I think I might get back to work doing some costuming. My purple and green costume is shaping up in a most satisfactory fashion. It's nice to get some creative work done. It makes it so the juices flowing through my head aren't all sinus-related.
