Pointless Whingeing
Feb. 27th, 2006 10:15 amI don't think I chose my seat wisely.
Because of my ADD, I get distracted very easily. So in order to do my job well, I need a spot as free as distraction as possible. I chose a seat well away from other work stations. There's one seat to my right, but none behind me. Behind me is a corridor. I'd falsely guessed that people would be quiet walking past, since I am working. But this is not so much the case.
I've had loud banging sounds as people drag around large metal items, the clanking of stepladders being set up, people chatting with one another as they walk by, etc. It doesn't help that I've had a migraine for over a month, now. The one saving grace is that work has been slow so far, so the distractions haven't been too interruptive. But I'll not choose this spot again, that's for sure.
I do fear that there are no quiet spots for me to work in, though. The new office space is very crowded.
