shanmonster: (Don't just sing it--bring it!)
I might get to meet and watch Tommy the Clown of Rize next week. He's coming to Waterloo. I really am in Canada's dance mecca. This is wonderful!

And here are the expected links:

Timing is everything: Photo gallery of the moment of destruction. Smashing! Popping! Bursting!

Flight of the Pole Dancer: "Welcome to PopSci's newest blog feature, "The Breakdown." Each week, we'll pick a Web video that involves a minor crash, explosion or other nonfatal mishap and invite one of our experts to explain, in scientific terms, what went wrong. In this week's edition, physics whiz Michael Moyer analyzes the case of the tumbling pole dancer..." You can see the video here.

Pronto Condoms: New condom technology makes donning your raincoat much faster (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] f00dave).

THE MYSTERY OF CHINA'S CELTIC MUMMIES: "Solid as a warrior of the Caledonii tribe, the man's hair is reddish brown flecked with grey, framing high cheekbones, a long nose, full lips and a ginger beard. When he lived three thousand years ago, he stood six feet tall, and was buried wearing a red twill tunic and tartan leggings. He looks like a Bronze Age European. In fact, he's every inch a Celt. Even his DNA says so."

Cool Ads: Some ads are more entertaining than others.

Japan: NSFW, of course (thanks, I think, [livejournal.com profile] f00dave).

Stone Sea and Volcano: A funny thing happened while yachting....

I don't like apple pie. I'll eat it, but won't enjoy it.

Except for this apple pie. It's delicious, even to me. And today, I'm going to bake one.

Apple Crumble Pie

* 1 (9 inch) deep dish pie crust
* 5 cups apples - peeled, cored and thinly sliced
* 1/2 cup white sugar
* 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/3 cup white sugar
* 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
* 6 tablespoons butter

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C.) Arrange apple slices in unbaked pie shell. Mix 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples.
2. Mix 1/3 cup sugar with flour; cut in butter until crumbly. Spoon mixture over apples.
3. Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until apples are soft and top is lightly browned.

[livejournal.com profile] snowy_kathryn just bopped me in the face twice with the business end of a toilet plunger.

I am now plotting her doom.
