shanmonster: (Don't just sing it--bring it!)
I am feeling my yesterday, after all. My hamstrings are a bit throbby, possibly because I did the splits a few times, and I'm not used to doing them anymore. The pole dancing classes are doing wonders for my flexibility, over all. I caught a glimpse of myself doing the frog stretch and was surprised at how flat to the floor I can get now.

My regular instructor has gone away to Mexico. She was all about the pole tricks and strength-building. These new instructors are all about the sexy and the flexibility. I guess I can work on the strength on my own time. The Monday night instructor is hoping at least a few of us will be able to master a fancy backward spin which starts at the top of the pole and snakes its way to the floor. I'll need to develop more back arching flexibility to do it. I think I already have the strength. Whee!

No weight-training for me today. Instead, I'll do yoga and wing chun.

Today is housework day. The excitement of it all is overwhelming.

Here are some links.

Do Not Click Here: I mean it. Unless you want to watch a very NSFW video of Streetfighter's Zangheif in a very embarassing situation.

Jasmine/Rajah porn (yes, from the Disney movie): Contains such memorable lines as "She slowly lowered her crumpet to his gender and kissed the tip of it gently. It tasted odd, a infinitesimal athletic but also pleasant, like wrapped fig leaves dipped in peppers."

The Fun We Can't Remember: Classic toys which never existed.

LOL Trek: The tribble episode told lolcat-style.

Funny Monkey Video: See the funny monkey. Laugh at the funny monkey (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] f00dave)!

Mystery revealed: Poppy quarter led to U.S. spy warnings: Canadians' penchant for tacky coins had espionage experts freaking out. "The odd-looking — but harmless — 'poppy coin' was so unfamiliar to suspicious U.S. Army contractors travelling in Canada that they filed confidential espionage accounts about them. The worried contractors described the coins as 'anomalous' and 'filled with something man-made that looked like nano-technology.'"

KOREA UP CLOSE -- Photographic Encounters by Foreign Observers: My old university buddy Derek Winchester was just published in this. I hadn't even realized he was doing photography. While I wasn't looking, he got really, really good.
shanmonster: (Dance Monkey Dance!)
Today I'm featuring Fire Groove, a fire dance and burlesque troop out of Hollywood, CA. In this video montage, they use a variety of fire props. I particularly like the acrobatic staff-spinning at the end of the video.

Nonetheless, I am appalled that at least one of the long-haired dancers spins with her hair down. What was she thinking?
