I woke up at 4:45 with an attack of killer bees. I took an Advil, and some time later, was able to get back to sleep just in time to wake up and go to work. The cramps are currently being held at bay by yet another Advil, but breakfast was difficult to eat because of waves of nausea. This must be what morning sickness feels like.... Yet another reason I never want to have kids!
I'm hoping the pill takes care of the nausea, too, or else I might be coming home early from work.
Stupid woman-dy ailments. Bah.
Ugh. My first caller of the day was a right and utter knob. Nice beginning....
In other news, I went kayaking again yesterday. This time it was just an hour-long jaunt up the Nashwaak with
zero_design and
snowy_kathryn. I saw an eagle swoop down from the sky and into a tree. I tried to point it out to Zed and Kathryn, but in the same vicinity, a seagull was flapping around, so they scoffed at my sighting. Then the eagle swooped down, caught a big, silver fish, and went back into the tree. And still they didn't see it, because a seagull was still flapping about.
They still didn't believe me! So after that, everything became a bird of prey. Sparrows became mosquito raptors; seagulls became seagles; pigeons became street hawks.
The trip was otherwise rather uneventful. My paddle was one I'll never choose again, though. Although it handled well enough, the shaft was decorated with a tinsel grid pattern. Tiny bits of the metal were breaking off and sticking into my skin, giving me microcuts. On a few occasions, I had to stop and yoink bits of shiny out of my hands. The skin was quite sore for a few hours afterwards.
Dance class afterwards was also fairly uneventful. I had two newbies show up, so I worked with them while Kathryn worked with the returning student (yes, just 3 students. Business is SLOW in the summer). Afterwards, they wanted a demonstration, having never seen a performance before. So I just invited them to stick around for the senior class and had Kathryn work on her routine to a very complex piece of Turkish oriental music. She's doing very well! I did a bit of dancing too, including a slow piece with floorwork to "My Beautiful Friend" by Light Rain. Kathryn says I'm doing my caterpillar crawls differently now (in a more muscular-looking way), but I have no way of gauging the difference without video.
Our mini audience was very appreciative, and I've been asked to bring some CDs in for sale next week. I'll have to see what I have left and bring them in.
When I get home tonight, I want to watch some Cirque du Soleil stuff. I hope my day goes quickly. Very quickly.
