The other day, my conversion rate was over 70%. The average for the company is around 40%. What can I say? People hear my dulcet tones and they book more rooms.
I want to learn how to play the dulcimer. Where can I get one for cheap, and where can I get lessons? Not around here, I suspect. I'll just file this wish away with my other rainy day aspirations.
My work desk is covered with outdoors. It's littered with maple leaves, and I have two purple clover blossoms peeping at me from a water bottle. It still doesn't hide the fact that I work in a cubicle farm. Ah well.
Today I'm wearing black PVC pants. I'd never biked in them before, and I don't think I'll do it again. It's not because it made me sweat extra (although this is true), but because the finish of my pants was rubbing off on my bicycle seat. This made me unhappy. I tied a velvet scarf onto my bike seat, and that seemed to help. But I fear for my poor pants. I like being shiny, sometimes, and now my butt isn't as shiny as the rest of my pants. Boo.
I had a bit of a scare today. My tusk necklace fell off while I was biking, and I managed to brake just before running it over. Yikes.
Happy All Saints' Day, by the way. I think it's an underrated holiday. It really ought to have all sorts of feasting and costumes, too. There are so many saints out there, and some of them suffered the most gruesome of deaths. It could be as gory, if not gorier, than Hallowe'en. Which saint would you want to dress as? I'd have to think about it a bit, although Saint Lucia appeals to me a bit (if only because I played a character in a Vampire game named Lucia).

also: Saint Boniface. It's the name of the street that my boyfriend lives on, and this boniface was just killed during the inquisition, so they made him a saint. Shit, I could do it in jeans and an tshirt.

Date: 2005-11-02 09:00 am (UTC)From:My mother ran a class for lap dulcimer once, and they built theirs from kits involving cardboard. It came with the cardboard already cut, with nails and the tuning pegs and fretboard and everything, and all you had to do was put them together, and they sounded /remarkably/ nice. If you can find something like that, it'd probably be worth trying it out. If you decide you want a real one later on, you'll still have a knockaround spare, and if you don't, you're out like $15 instead of $150.
If you do decide to buy one, tell me and I'll give you more advice on what to look for.
