Last night, I met with some local dancers, one of whom lives directly across the street from me. I hit it off really well with them, and during the course of their conversation, I've decided to skip the double knife dance in July in favour of dancing with poi. Apparently, no one around here does it at all, and since I'm already really comfortable with working with poi, well, you figure it out.
So now I just have to figure out what music I'll use. Goodbye glitchytwitchy music, and hello four on the floor upbeat BPM. I think I might start it all up with floorwork, and then finish with the poi. Hmm....
The first song that comes to mind is "Army of Me" by Bjork off the Telegram album. I still have to try it out and see if the tempo is quick enough. I like the song because it has a regular rhythm, but also has enough weird little accents to appease my need for change. But what to put in front of it for floorwork? I'll have just shy of two minutes, which isn't very long at all.
Any suggestions for short, creepy little songs ideal for doing slow, snake-like dancing? Preferably something which would ease into Bjork's quirky electronica?
The other day, while biking all over the city for hours, I decided that I really need to get a gel seat cushion. My bike seat is beginning to crack, and has been chafing on my thighs in a most uncomfortable manner.
Then yesterday, while walking to the gym for my regular weight-lifting session, what should I find on the sidewalk but a gel seat cover?
My life is ruled by serendipity.
And here are some links for your enjoyment:
1952 Campaign Ad "Ike...Bob": Political campaigns were different then. Very different.
Improv Everywhere Mission: Best Buy: What happens when 50 or so people show up at Best Buy dressed very similarly to staff?
Pink Slip: I've linked to this before, but it's worth linking again. It's an educational video from the 70s about menstruation, but with a twist.
Lasse - Hyperactive: Weird guy making weird noises makes cool music video. This must've taken a while.
And then I found a reference to a self-hypnosis audio tape on a members-only site. Check it out!

Butt Plugs
Warning!! This is a curse file that can only be lifted by EMG. Intended for either males or females. Once invoked, if male, the victim will feel as if he has an invisible but plug inserted at all times. Over the days/weeks/months that follow this invisible plug will slowly increase in size until it is the largest he can accommodate. In addition to the slow size increase, the plug will constantly writhe and pulse (expand/contract slightly) causing the victim to be constantly and unmercifully stimulated. If the victim is female, she will have two of these plugs – one fore and aft – working in unison to keep her stimulated. These plugs will not interfere with bodily function – disappearing when in the bathroom and returning with a vengeance when through. Length 00:22:08
