I moved to Ontario to dance, and the opportunities are pouring in.
In the past couple of days, I've had requests to teach at a seniors' centre, dance at a Turkish restaurant, and perform at a fetish show. That's pretty darned disparate, if you ask me. I wouldn't mind teaching a seniors' class. I think it could be pretty interesting. I'm not overly keen on dancing at restaurants. I generally find it verging on tacky. But it's regular money and regular performance, which would certainly increase my exposure. And as for dancing at the fetish show, well, I think they'd probably be happy if I even just dressed up and wiggled. We shall see, though. This might be exactly the venue to do another attempt at "Candle" by Skinny Puppy, at least. Let's see if I can get it working the way I want to, this time around.
Now, this is all well and good, but it's not really helping with my own dance training. So I'm toying over the idea of going to a Princess Farhana workshop this summer. But I'm still waiting to hear back about the difficulty level of the workshop. I don't want to get caught up in another newbie workshop like I did with Jillina. And although Princess Farhana is deliciously awesome, would I be better off just buying her DVDs and working from those? Probably. It's not like much one-on-one attention is granted at workshops, after all.
I will, however, be studying in March with Zoe Jakes, Khafif (again!), and Freyja (who I'm afraid I know little about). And maybe, just maybe, also with Kami Liddle in the summer, too. She has a workshop coming up shortly in Oshawa, but I don't think I can get the money/transportation. Sigh....
Okay, now that I have myself all dancey in the brain, I think I'll go do some practice for a while before I skedaddle to teach my Friday beginners' class. Maybe I'll try a new DVD out. Or maybe I'll do some Suhaila drills. Or maybe I'll do both....
