Getting Better

I feel much better today. Although my stomach still has sharp pains and it periodically feels like someone with bony knees is kneeling on my back, I'm awake, aware, and able to function. My day was relatively productive, too. I set two stones and put together a third bezel. And I also taught a dance class tonight with zills and veils. It was a really fun class, and I had everyone dance two people per veil, inventing nifty movements while sharing the same bit of cloth. They were coming up with some pretty nifty stuff, too.

I wanted to go back to school tonight to work some more, but I'm too tired. I think I'd better save my energy for tomorrow, and go in early. My assessments are being done at 1:00, so I'll have all morning to put the finishing touches on my work. I hope it will be enough time....

Where does Scroffy go at night, I wonder? He never stays on the balcony. He only shows up during the daytime. Maybe he actually spends the night with his pigeon friends. He's a loner in the daytime, but maybe he's a party animal at night. I guess I'll have to try tracking him, sometime.

I think pigeons like to roost places where their feet are warm, and there are other pigeons around. Which would explain one reason they all line up on roof ridges: great view, heat coming up through that center highline, a bunch of gray neighbors muttering and cooing and playing "Telephone"* through the night...

* I've also hear it called "Operator"

That's why I'm surprised he doesn't roost here. It's out of the wind, and the windowsill surely has heat coming through. I like playing telephone with Scroffy. I've decided that instead of saying, "Coo, coo, coo," he's screaming, "FOOD! FOOD! FOOD!"
