shanmonster: (Spasmolytic)
For the past couple of weeks, my left foot has been bothering me more and more. It constantly aches through the ankle and part of my big toe frequently feels like a mild electrical current is surging around within. Sometimes, it all makes me limp a bit, and my stances at kung fu have definitely been suffering. I've been wearing a pressure bandage on my foot for the last couple of days (which helps a bit), and I think it's once again time to brave the airborne pathogens of the health clinic so I can get an overworked doctor to tell me I should never dance again. Or maybe I'll try the sports clinic again where the doctor is a bit more realistic, and doesn't seem to be as overworked. Yeah. That's the ticket.

In the meantime, I'm going to see if I can teach two dance classes today and take two pole dancing classes because I'm just that smart.

You should see about seeing a massage therapist. A really good one. I went to my doctor with some complaints of a similar nature and she referred me to an incredible massage therapist who is doing "active release" work with me and it is AWESOME! I thought I had plantar fasciitis but the massage therapist feels that the problem is actually in my lower back and hips. It's just presenting symptoms in my foot. So far, her strategy is working, every time I see her it's feeling better and better.

I will check it out. Massage therapy is covered by my health insurance.

At the same time, I'm beginning to wonder if it's my arthritis catching up with me....
