shanmonster: (Dance Monkey Dance!)
Oh wow. I think my salbutamol puffer actually did something, for the first time in a couple of weeks. My coughing feels productive, instead of dry and pointless. Keep it coming, lungs. Keep it coming....

It looks like I'm doing an emergency fill-in at the dance studio tonight. The hiphop teacher is trapped in Toronto, so I'll be doing a free belly dance class for any hiphoppers who want to try it out. I'm still feeling lung-woozy, but I think I could teach a little bit of floorwork, chest isolations, and maybe some hair tosses. That might keep 'em happy....

Alas, but no kung fu for me tonight. I think that one dance class is going to shag me right the fuck out.

Someday, hopefully within the next week or so, I'll be able to train heavily again. Until then, go go gadget lungs! You can do it!

....

My novel-writing is dragging today. I'm having difficulty getting into this particular section. Everything feels too far removed from the action. Ah well. I'll put down the bare bones, and breath some life into it afterwards.

Maybe this building is filled with negative writing energy today...I haven't been able to work on my book either. Better luck tomorrow!

cough variant asthma

Here is a link

http://www.itmonline.org/arts/rehm6.htm

about a TCM that I take when I get a long lasting dry cough, which is often called cough variant asthma. This happens two or three times a year for me. My cough improves after only two or three days and is always gone within a week. I get zero side effects.

The article is the most extensive I have found on this preparation. I don't know if you are remotely interested in herbal medicine, if you are, the links are also very informative. Also google Ron Teegarden, a well respected TCM based herbalist who had excellent teachers and has a great writing style.

I might check out a TCM practitioner. There's a clinic not far away from here...

Perhaps one of your martial art friends can give you a reference to someone local. Good luck with it.

I was first given this by one of my students who is an OMD/acupuncturist. As a true child of the 60's I am not shy about experimenting with medicines, but I do a LOT of research and have had formal college classes in pharmacology and other medical training, plus two of my other students are M.D.'s It's important to be responsible about this sort of thing.
