When I got home yesterday evening and walked into my room, I squealed when I saw not one but TWO pigeons sleeping in the window sill. Yes, Miss Lemmiwinks has shacked up with Scroffy. But she's still not used to people, and my walking around in the room frightened her off. She ended up sleeping on the balcony railing, instead. Scroffy shrugged it off and stayed put, getting quite excited when I gave him a late-night snack. Miss Lemmiwinks demurred.
Today, I had a bit of a breakthrough with her, though. She actually got so close to me as to brush against my hand, although that freaked her right the hell out, and she ran to posthaste to the other end of the balcony. When she gets spazzy, it disturbs Scroffy, too, and he was acting like I was a big bad monster, albeit a big bad monster whose hand held nummy-nummy food. Despite his spooky behaviour, he wasn't about to eschew diving his beak into my cornucopia of a palm.
I think that within the next two weeks, I'll have Miss Lemmiwinks eating from my hand, too. And then she won't be afraid to sleep in the windowsill.
