I found Kimby. She's in Campbellton suffering from the flu. Ugh. She may be up to visit before returning to Austria, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Get over that flu soon, Kimmykins!
My kung fu practice this morning was laughable. We trained in a downstairs basketball court for about an hour or so with Pete and Dmitrii. I limbered up with my staff for a while. Then, about twenty minutes in, I somehow pulled a muscle in my back/neck. I suspect I did it while attempting a breakfall. Anyhow, it screwed me up for pretty much any kind of movement. The guys suggested I work my way through fook fu extremely slowly, but I couldn't even finish the bow. It twoinged my neck in a bad, bad way.
So I sat on the floor and did some butterfly stretches. We discussed Magic The Gathering until a pissy-looking jock strode into the gym and demanded, "Who here has a key to the building?"
"Uh, none of us," I said.
"Then how did you get in?"
"The door was unlocked."
After a while, when the guy realized we weren't going to give him any trouble, he stopped bristling. Apparently, the building was closed, and was open only for the basketball team. The door must have been left open for them, and we just walked in as usual to use the facilities. No harm was done (aside from to my neck!), and we'd gotten about an hour's worth of training in, anyhow.
When I got home, I had time to grab some lunch, and then I was off to the Craft School for a photo shoot. The silver chain was wound very tightly around my throat. The lead apple weighs about seven pounds, and wasn't exactly comfy, but I could still manage despite my damaged neck. It took a long time to get the chain wound to Patrick's satisfaction, but the actual shoot went quickly. I'm supposed to be getting some scans, so I'll share 'em with you. The picture will also be in an upcoming issue of Metalsmith Magazine (I think that's its name).
Tonight, since my Kimby plans are all in tatters, I'll be playing Lord of the Rings Risk with f00, Pete, and Roger from kung fu. I want to be on the evil side....

Date: 2003-12-31 11:23 pm (UTC)From:BTW: I received the pdf from you yesterday. I still haven't had an opportunity to read it carefully, but from a quick skim, it looks a bit different from the way I do it. The order of movements seems to differ, although the moves themselves look the same. Anyhow, more on that when I sober up. Heh....
Happy new year!
