I went to kung fu yesterday afternoon, and it was a bust. Just the simple act of walking to the kwoon made me feel dizzy and disassociated. I took my staff just in case I should feel so ennervated, and worked with that for a while, practicing passing off between hands, practicing strikes, and practicing spins in general. This is pretty relaxing work, yet I could feel my heart boomboomBOOMing. Curious, I paused and took my pulse. It was pushing 150, and I hadn't even done any cardio work. Ye gads! I only stayed for forty-five minutes, and I figure that out of that, I only did about fifteen minutes of actual kung fu. The rest was spent stretching and recuperating.
I'd hoped this trend would have ended when I quit taking the propranalol, but it doesn't seem to have happened. Now, instead of verging on blackout during exertion, I get dizzy and my heart beats overly fast. What's with that? It's very discouraging. Am I just out of shape? That seems unlikely, considering my dance and weight-training regimen.
In any case, I'll be attempting another kung fu session this afternoon. I think I'd like to try booking another appointment with my useless physician. But I don't want any more meds. Pills screw me up even more than I already am. Grr....
