My first name is a variant of a word which means "stony place," although it has also become associated with "song." My middle name may mean "eagle," and my last name means "eminent." So, I guess that means I'm the song of an eminent eagle who dwells in stony places.
My parents had believed they'd made up my name, but they actually stumbled across an alternate spelling of a relatively common French name. My middle name is more unusual, and has a mystery behind it. My mother has the same middle name, and when she asked where it came from, my grandfather would only say it was the name of a man he had served with in the military. He refused to say any more than that, so we don't know who this mysterious man was, or what he did. My grandfather's been dead for quite a while now, so I'm guessing we'll never find out.
If I'd been a boy, my parents would have named me John, which means "Yahweh is gracious." How quaint.
I found out that I was almost named Melissa Melinda, Samantha, or Tabitha. I remember being disappointed I hadn't been named Samantha, because that was my favourite name for a while. I've always liked my name, although there were times when I wished I was named "Samantha" or "Alexandria." I like the way my name rhymes. Maybe this had something to do with me becoming a writer, but if that was the case, you'd expect I'd have become more of a poet. One of the reasons I didn't take f00's last name when I got married is because it would have screwed up the cadence of my name.
I don't believe anyone has ever guessed the correct way to spell my name. Every time I have to leave my name, whether if it's for an appointment or for registration purposes, I must spell my name out (usually several times). Even still, most people like to add a silent e at the end, for whatever reason.
If I was forced to change my name, for some inconceivable reason, I think I might choose "La." La was the name of a doomed priestess/queen in one of my favourite Tarzan stories, and it would be quite a change to go from an eight-letter name to a two-letter one.
If you don't already know it, can you guess all three of my names?

Shantell, Oscar Zoroaster Phadrig Isaac Norman Henkle Emmannuel Ambroise Diggs, Powell?
Note-
"Oscarzoroasterphadrigisaacnormanhenkleemmannuelambroisediggs" roughly translated in MicMac means eagle which explains why so many were killed, allegedly for feathers.
