I broke

snowy_kathryn last night. She came to kung fu with me, and during the first partner exercise of the class, I somehow managed to smash the bony, bony tip of my elbow into the groove between two ittybitty bones on the top of her foot. The poor girl went down on the floor in agony, and she's still gimpy today. So I know I scared her off kung fu classes forever (although it's not supposed to be so damaging!), but at the very least, she now knows her tae kwon do classes were very, very softcore.

This morning, we went to a stability ball class at the Y. I've never taken a stability ball class before, but I now plan on doing more. It's an excellent way of strenghtening core muscles. I thought my abs were in splendid condition, but the exercises on the ball left me shaking and shimmying when I was trying to remain stable. I also felt my back muscles whingeing at me in a big way, and one particularly killer exercise left the backs of my knees screaming "Lactic acid! Lactic acid!"

Nevertheless, I learned that my obliques are in stellar condition, because exercises targetting those muscles are very easy. Hoorah for roundhouse kicks and hip raises!

Anyhow, now it's time to do something completely different--like the dishes. Ugh. And I also want to do some wire work, maybe making some earrings and bracelets. I can't get into the metal studio this week, so I brought some tools and materials home. Today feels like an earring day. I have opal, coral, rose quartz, sodalite, lapis lazuli, cinnabar, hematite, citrine, Czech crystal, pearl, amber, strawberry quartz, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera! I also have a buttload of 20-gauge sterling silver wire and a heap of silver jump rings already made, so there's nothing technically stopping me aside from my own procrastination.
