Today I did a chin-up. Only one, and not from a dead hang, but I did it. I nearly popped my bicep, but I'm fine. If I can do one now, I should be able to do a bunch by the end of the summer.
With my local friends it's more common to hear Star Trek references, and the occasional line from A Few Good Men. Freakiness varies, but is universal.
Apropos of nothing, but since I have you both on one page at the moment: I'll be passing through your town with my ex on the way to Halifax in July (the 10th, I think). Care to meet us for lunch?
Sure! I *think* I'll still be in town by then. The AARMS summer school thingie starts on the 12th, which means I'm flying out on the 11th. If all goes well, I'll be around on the 10th for Lunch And Stuff.
Also Fredericton is technically a "city", not a town. Which is really fucking scary when you consider that, compared to the rest of the province, it really *is* a city. Damn!
I didn't intend to belittle the City of Fredericton; "town" can be used to refer to a city in a complimentary way (at least in my twisted head). When I drove through there last summer, I found it charming and inviting, hence the term "town." (I often refer to Chicago as a nice town, by the way).
As that weekend gets closer and our travel plans firm up, I'll let you know. Right now, it looks like we're heading out on Friday afternoon, 7/9, and stopping in Maine, which (provided there are no unfortunate incidents at the border as there were last summer) puts us in Fredericton in the early afternoon.
Don't get me wrong: I'm not defending F'ton, it's piddly 40,000 population can bloody well try and defend itself! No, just trying to impart a sense of irony, where New Brunswickers think they're all that (and more, besides!), but the third largest city in the whole province is barely a town.
