The job is going pretty well. I'm thinking about renting a freezer so I can sell freezies, fudgecicles, and the ilk. I'll betcha it would pay for itself in a jiffy, because there aren't any close-by places which sell ice cream. And we're in tourist central!
I started work on another ring today. This one is a silver band with a copper bezel and a facetted round white topaz. I chose copper because I think the stone will be lost against a silver background. I also started work on a Japanese six-in-one chainmaille bracelet. I've never done this style before, and I guess I'd better cut more jumprings tomorrow, because chainmaille eats through them like no one's business. I've been making a bunch of bracelets with wire wrapping and beadwork, too. Yesterday, I made a silver and blue crystal bracelet for Siobhan's (a local dancer and ex-student of mine) birthday present. I also made a sodalite and pearl bracelet, and a garnet and strawberry quartz one. To top it off, I still want to work on some tassels for another tribal belt.
This job is great. I get paid to make stuff, and I also get paid to practice my dance and kung fu. I just hope I can sell a lot of stuff and make enough money to pay for everything that needs paying for. That might be too much to wish for, though....
Kung fu kicked my arse again, tonight. My bad toe has flared up over the past week and a bit, possibly because I attempted calf raises in my weight training regimen two weeks ago. No more calf raises for me! Tonight, every time I put weight on my big toe, it felt like I was stepping on a hot coal. It made good, low stances impossible. It made me wish my sword were sharp so I could decapitate myself at the big toe. However, the conditioning exercises we did on one another's arms at the end of the class were enough to take my mind off my screaming foot. I'd better locate the Tiger Balm. Big bruises are bound to make an appearance in the next couple of days.
And now for the links!
Dial An Orgasm: You know how everyone always snickers at vibrating cell phones? Well, someone has finally harnessed the powers of the vibration for what we've all been giggling at (thanks, Kutulu).
The Simpson's House: It's real! Holy cow (thanks again, Kutulu)!
Dracunculiasis: This is absolutely revolting. Don't click on it, unless you want to see the worms crawl in, the worms crawl out, eating your guts and spitting you out.
Alternity: Some gorgeous photography to clean your palate.
Shadow Puppet Monkeys: Bad monkeys! Dirty monkeys!
And now it's time for bed....

Date: 2004-06-09 10:25 am (UTC)From:I can purchase silver for you at the school store, but the store is closed for the next week and a bit while the manager is on vacation. You can usually find me at Rising Artisans in the Casemates, or in the metal studio at the NBCCD.
Toodles!
