shanmonster: (Spasmolytic)

I've felt lousy all day. For a few hours, I thought it was because of Tubby's impending doom, but now I know it's not just that. My head is totally wonkered, whether from a sleep deficit or the change in the weather. In either case, my brain is throbbing like a water worm on a cranked bass speaker.

Yesterday, John and Sephira stopped by for a visit. I sent them off with two big boxes of books for their bookstore, and a bunch of clothes for Sephira. They gifted me with a couple of Taschen books: Best of Bizarre and Pin-Ups. They go quite nicely with the Erotica 19th Century [livejournal.com profile] snowy_kathryn gave me at Christmas. Hoorah for interesting picture books!

We went out to supper last night with Lev, Masha, and a visiting Russian scientist named Alex. We ended up at The Snooty Fox, although we'd originally planned on going to Dimitri's. Unfortunately, Fredericton is a desolate hole, and most restaurants are closed on Sundays. So we went to the pub and ordered there, instead. I split ribs and wings with [livejournal.com profile] f00dave. We ordered their hottest wings, and they were really hot. Mind you, I'm used to hot food, eating plenty of Mexican and Indian food on a regular basis. These wings were scorching! I didn't bother with them, and let f00 eat them all. Once food reaches a certain level of tongue-sizzling, I no longer enjoy it. These wings had crossed that level.

On that note, it's time for supper. f00 just made barbequed Tandoori chicken and steamed Basmati rice. Mmmm....

I used to like the snooty fox, until I found multiple hairs in my food on two consecutive visits, and Steve told me that when they bring their kitchen stuff in to be drycleaned its always full of maggots! EW!

I know some other ladies who refuse to eat there on account of findng coackroaches in their food. Big ones.

Yuck! The ribs were actually not that great. They were a bit tough, and overcooked at the tips. But I didn't see maggots or hair.

Or cockroaches! Agh!

The wings were, perhaps, just a smidgen too hot, but still very good.

Poor Tubby. :-(

Yow! Poor Shan...

Gee, I hope you feel better soon. I'm so sorry about your willa. I take it that your mention means that you have confirmed that she has the jaw deformation thing? My condolences. I still remember the day my mom had to have my old cat put down. I was 28, and not living at my Mom's house anymore, but still I was grief stricken for days. She was very old, and in pain, but I had had her ever since I was a boy, and I missed having her at my appartment, and then she was gone. Mortality sucks.

Haven't confirmed yet, but I'm 99% sure that she has exactly the same problem (corroberated by "internet research", which doesn't count for anything admittedly). I'm taking her in tomorrow at 11:00 for the vet to check. If she's got the same problem and it will reoccur, she'll have to go. We can't afford the regular gassing/filework (every 4-8 weeks) she'll need for the next 6-10 years. I'll ask the vet if she knows anyone that can, since she's an awesome pet. *sad*

I'm feeling much better today, but Tubby feels like a bit of fluff resting atop a skeleton. She goes in to the vet tomorrow. Poor little critter....
