shanmonster: (For goodness sakes. I've got the....)
I have a dance performance tomorrown night at the Elk's Lodge, and it would be super spiffy if someone would accompany me. I don't like dancing at certain venues without backup, and a birthday party at a bar at 10:00 pm is one of those venues. So if you're in town and wouldn't mind walking with me, watching my purse, and maybe even operating my stereo for me, I'd be much obliged.

I have nothing else to do...

I volunteer myself (Joel) and possibly Heather. I'm not big & burly but I can watch purses and like hitting people with things if the need should arise. Just let me know if I am needed.
That would be spiffy! I don't think I'll need any muscle. Just a purse-sitter, really, and someone to walk with. Unless it rains, and then I'll have to catch a cab, so someone to cab with!
Whoa! A car? That's excellent....
I'd be happy to volunteer. You sound like you get into all sorts of fun adventures.
I sure do! Today's adventure is a trip to the lung association.
I'm sure you'd make that interesting! Heh heh.

If only I could. Good luck with your performance!

Did he have antlers?

I hope the party goes well, too. I suppose I should go pick out my clothes and music now....

You have no idea how much I wish I were still in the Maritimes and able to be your escort for the night. Tricia has given me much practise in the fine art of watching purses, so I believe I would be qualified. Alas...we arrived home late last night after 900 miles on the road, and are missing Halifax and Charlottetown greatly.

On another topic, Tricia would like you to know that your earrings are fetching lots of compliments!

We really enjoyed meeting you & Dave on Saturday. Sorry we couldn't stay longer! Next time I drive to Halifax (and there will be a next time!) I'll plan a whole afternoon in Fredericton, if y'all will have me!

I'm sorry I didn't really get to spend more time with you while you were here. A few minutes really isn't enough, is it?

Maybe the next time you're up, the weather will be nicer, too. This is an uncharacteristic summer.

Well, we knew it would be a brief stopover this time around. I'm certain I'll be back through your neighborhood next summer (whether Tricia will be with me then is still somewhat up in the air). I've taken quite a liking to the fair City of Halifax!

Say, perhaps you can answer a question for me: why does it seem like all of Prince Edward Island is for sale? From the Confederation Bridge to the outskirts of Charlottetown, I saw more houses and acreage for sale than I have in probably the last year here in New Jersey. I'm seriously contemplating a summer home up there. Not that I can actually afford it...although if there's a glut of properties for sale, it might not be so expensive...

Maybe it's because there really isn't a whole lot going for the people in PEI, unless they're in the potato or tourism industries.

I like Halifax, too.

That would seem likely, though I did find it odd that we saw far more privately-owned yachts in Charlottetown than in Halifax, which would seem to indicate an ample amount of wealth there. Perhaps they all belong to folks who have summer homes in PEI.

Are you hooked on Stan Rogers music like I am?

I don't know who Stan Rogers is, so I can't say that I am....

Wow. From what I can tell, he's very popular in the Maritimes. "Barrett's Privateers" and "Mary Ellen Carter" seem to be two of his best-known songs. Folk singer, something like Gordon Lightfoot, died in 1994. Seems nearly every live band we heard this week played at least one of his songs.
