My case of the Ick seems to be leaving my system. I feel much better than I did yesterday. Tomorrow, I leave for Moncton. I have the jitters about this, because I've been too sick to practice dancing, and I'm a bit nervous about bunging everything up. Everyone's been saying, "Oh, you'll do fine." But it's folks' job to tell me I'll do fine, right? Hell, I still don't even know what I'm going to be wearing, and I'd wanted costuming to be a big part of my dance. I'll probably end up wearing the bullet belt and leather top again. I'd prefer a top which showed more of my midsection, though. I want people to notice when I do my there's-an-alien-in-my-belly tricks. Heh....
My livingroom is a disaster. It's filled with all my stock. I still need to put pricetags on most of it. I skipped kung fu because I need to get this stuff done. Right now, I'm taking a breather from putting the finishing touches on some of the pantaloons I'll be selling.
In case you'll get a chance to swing by Moncton, here are the details:
Moncton's Studio Sephira, in association with Pandora Productions from Halifax, bring you two of the worlds leading instructors of Middle Eastern Dance.
Morocco has dedicated her life to travelling the globe and preserving the history of this dance. Over the course of her 42+-year career she has established a school in New York City to share her vast knowledge, and formed a dance company called the Casbah Dance Experience. Tarik Sultan is one of the top male Middle Eastern dancers in the world. When Tarik became Morocco's protégé he embarked on a dance experience that has taken him worldwide as a performer, instructor and good will ambassador. He performs as a soloist, a member of the Casbah Dance Experience, and also instructs at the New York studio. This is their first time coming to the Maritimes. If you would still like to take part in this workshop call 383-8138.
As part of the workshop, a Cabaret Show will be held on Saturday October 9th at 7:15pm at Club d'Age d'Or Notre-Dame de Grâce, 5 Keillor Rd. This show is open to the public. Both Morocco and Tarik Sultan will perform as a way to show their appreciation to the students and to those who have brought them to Moncton. The show will also feature dancers from Maine and the Maritimes. Advance tickets are being sold at Crows' Corner Books at 183 Mountain Road in Moncton, or by calling 506-383-8138. Show tickets are $25. There will be Hors d'oeuvres and bar service at the show. You will also have a chance before and after the show to check out the vendors. If you are coming form away for the show and need directions please let us know. If you are registered for the workshop the show is included.
I'll be opening the second half of the show. Come and buy my stuff. Come and see us dance!
