I'm still sick, but feeling better. After doing a few chores, I'm settling down to do some more writing. In the meantime, check these out:

[2-headed bird with rat erupting from breast]

'Rat bird' feels at home: "Rottie the rat thinks he is a bird... But it comes as no surprise when one realises that Madam and Tokkelos, two lovebirds, are raising this rodent."

Cervical cancer study finds long-lasting results: "Efforts to develop the world's first vaccine to prevent cervical cancer took a key step forward Monday with test results suggesting that it can provide long-lasting protection."

Malaysian man cooks himself: He does it for religious reasons.

Practical Applications of the Philosopher’s stone. For drunks.: "In the alchemical tradition, creation of the Philosopher’s stone is the ultimate end to man’s needs. The stone has the power to cure disease, prolong life, and possesses the added benefit of being able to transmute metals, as in lead into gold. As scienticians, we believe that such an object exists, and that it can be used for our own dastardly purposes."

Helen Levitt Vintage Graffiti: :Helen Levitt briefly taught art to schoolchildren in 1937 under the Federal Art Project. Walking to these classes, she began to record the transitory nature of life in the street by focusing on drawings and messages scrawled on sidewalks, girders, walls—marks that remained only as long as weather permitted or before someone else’s scratches took their place."

Regret the Error: "Regret The Error reports on corrections, retractions, clarifications, and trends regarding accuracy and honesty in North American media." It's good to see plagiarism being dealt with. Now, if only the universities get serious with it, too.

Suzanne points out these photos of Lewis Payne, assassin of Abraham Lincoln. They look like they ought to be in GQ magazine. He was quite the hottie, wasn't he?

Southwest Florida Man Charged With Holding Up Special Olympics Bus: "The vast majority of the athletes didn't know what was going on. The adult chaperones were more shaken up." My unfortunate schadenfreude knows no boundaries.
