shanmonster: (Spasmolytic)

Normally, I never post these things, but because this one is so incredibly wacked, I had to share. It actually made me shout "What the hell???":

You Are a Religious Republican

You make up the conservative, Christian, dedicated core of the Republican Party. You believe it's important for religious people to stand up for their beliefs in politics. And for you, this means voting your conscience - which almost always means voting Republican. Your pet causes include the sanctity of life, school vouchers, and prayer in school.

I still don't know how that happened. Obviously, the quiz is on crack.

In other news, if you haven't already seen The Incredibles, remedy that oversight posthaste. It's the best animated film I've ever seen, and also the best superhero film. I think it's the best movie I've seen this year, too. It's just that damned good.

That result does strike me as odd. I wonder which question it keyed off of? My result is spot on:

What political persuasion are you? (http://www.blogthings.com/political-persuasion.html)

I think the quiz didn't know how to react to the issues I didn't choose any answer for, since none of the answers worked for me. I guess that somehow makes me a Bible thumper. I also said I'd trust a pastor more than a politician, but that's because I've known some trustworthy religious figures personally, but don't know as many politicians. I have a much easier time trusting someone I know personally than a familiar stranger. I guess that also skewed my results.

Mine seems ok, too.

My guesses for why I ended up a fundie are listed above....

I'm also apperently a bible thumper - (news to me and everyone who knows mr)

The only thing I could think of was that I believe that a fetus is human and therefore don't support abortion.

Of course, I'm not American so I don't count.

Pro-lifers are all pew-jumping fundies, dontcha know?

Where did you get such a beleif from? Certaintly not from scientific evidence. The whole fetus is a human thing is a pretty exclusive concept to western fundamentalist christianity, which is ironic since the bible never equates a fetus as a person.

I just happen to believe that a soul is present from conception.

I don't condemn women who have had abortions - that's not my place.

I have no desire to force on you my belief system, please don't bother trying to force yours

Where do souls come from exactly, and how are they endowed on the tissue? Is the soul present in the sperm or the egg or both, and at what point does it cease to be an egg or sperm and become a living soul?

If you don't condemn others for it, that would mean you are pro-choice and therefore others have no valid reason to jump all over you and attack your beliefs like you're some fundie harassing women outside clinics.

It relates to the concept of life itself... whether there is something, a soul for example, that defines life as being more than simply higher brain functions. If you do believe in this ephemeral thing, it is not at all hard to draw the line back to the instant the life form was created... without being slave to "fundamentalist Christianity".

It's a bit of an annoying tendancy in some people to view uncertainty (or outright disapproval) of abortion as being a remnant of a Christian upbringing, as if there is no non-Christian, church-free reason to be pro-Life or doubtful.

Yes, but non scientific. All are based on "feelings" and the beleif in "souls" all religious concepts, not science.

Funny how morality works that way. Science doesn't tell us not to kill each other as adults either.

duh, brad bird is a modern animation genius. He did it yet again.

You Are a New School Democrat

You like partying and politics - and are likely to be young and affluent.

You're less religious, traditional, and uptight than most Democrats.

Smoking pot, homosexuality, and gambling are all okay in your book.

You prefer that the government help people take care of themselves.

Ok, young...
