I hadn't thought of witches being a race, but now that I think about it, it does make a certain amount of sense. But I don't think they are just one race. After all, we have black witches, white witches, green witches, and all sorts of other colours, too.

Witchcraft also appears to be a sort of fashion. Some wear long, flowing robes and have crazy, frizzed-out hair (eg. Laurie Cabot). Some wear skintight catsuits with pentacle cutouts (warning: enormous photo) to show off their cute bellies (ie. Fiona Horne). "Satanic" witches wear granny panties ("always full-cut; white, off-white or dusty-pink; rayon or nylon (smooth-finish) panties" says the accidentally funny The Satanic Witch). Some, I suspect, wear blue jeans, plaid shirts, and trucker hats. And some don't wear anything at all.

Of course, this is right up there along with the bizarre assertion made by a student in my religious studies class that "You should be able to tell what religion a person is by looking at them." So perhaps because I have been mistaken for Wiccan on so many occasions (my hair marks me as the Laurie Cabot type), I should just say the hell with it and become a Wiccan. It's the Christian thing to do.

In unrelated news, an 11-year-old girl in California has just been suspended from school for doing "dangerous" cartwheels and hand stands during lunch time. Heaven forfend a kid actually develop some gymnastic skills!
