shanmonster: (For goodness sakes. I've got the....)

Lest you think only ill-educated Wiccans are my detractors, let me present unto you this chestnut. loopando writes:

this is a good website. i wouldnt of gone here however, i am doing a school project. have u read harry potter? the witches in there are good but witches aernt good the will never be. i am very christian and will never think of witches as good

Uh, wait a minute. This person didn't say anything bad about me or my site. Damn. I wish they would. I am not on their side. The witches in Harry Potter aren't all good, and the bad ones are my favourites.

Did you know a meteor is on its way to earth and we're all about to die? Easy come, easy go, I guess.

I found a sad but interesting story called Aborted baby buried in back yard of Richmond Township teen's home. "A 16-year-old Richmond Township girl who allegedly allowed her boyfriend to hit her in the stomach with a baseball bat to abort her unborn baby may face criminal charges after police this week dug up a 4-month-old fetus in her back yard." How does this reconcile with abortions? Is her poor decision less legal than going to a clinic or using a wire coat hanger? Or do girls who go to clinics get charged? This is confusing me.

News gets happier with this tale of a dolphin tail: Disabled dolphin jumping again with world's first artificial fin (thanks, f00).

Now, I must get back to my research of dance. I just found an article by Barbara Sellers-Young called "Raks El Sharki: Transculturation of a Folk Form" which is shaping up to be very interesting.

I never noticed anything about witchcraft
on your site. Do you actually write back
to these people?

A baseball bat is so trashy. Didn't she
know the only romantic way of auto-
abortion is to throw oneself down the
stairs? Or corsetting? Seriously, I think
they usually bust people for charges like
"burying biohazardous material" for things
like that.

And I wish cadaver dogs really were zombie
dogs.

I have a lot of information about witches on my page. However, the page is about the European witch trials and not about neopagans. It's called The Witching Hours, and it's still very popular. As far as I know, it is required/recommended reading for several university history/law/popular culture courses. It's also been plagiarized like mad many times.

I made those cookies today... with some slight alterations. I used a (butternut) squash instead of pumpkin, kicked up the spices, added nutmeg for good measure, and used raisins instead of chocolate chip. Yielded some nice, soft, kind of cakey cookies. Very tasty! I don't think I *fully* doubled your spices... maybe around 1.5 or 1.75x. I used about the same amount of nutmeg as of ginger.

That sounds yummy!

I think it's just that the baseball bat method seemed unusually cruel, especially given how long they were at it. Not sure if disposing of a fetus that way might be an issue either.

Cruel to whom? The girl? The foetus?

My cat once did something similar to herself in order to abort. It worked, but it was not a good experience for her, so the next time she got pregnant, she just abandoned the kittens instead of offing them in the womb(s)

Or maybe both. I don't really know. But the gist I received when going over the article was that the behaviour struck somebody in charge as possibly criminal.

So if I were to beat myself in the stomach, I could be arrested?

If you did it for two weeks (?... I forget. I think it was two weeks.) straight, most assuredly. You'd be considered a danger to yourself.

When the police refer to it in a news release as "unborn child," you know they're going to get charged with whatever the police can think of. "The length they went to do this is shocking," indeed.

Abortion vs. murder of unborn children is a tricky ethical area. Rather, it's tricky for some, and very straight forward for others.

On the other hand, clubbing people with baseball bats for any purpose is a crime all of its own.

Yes, but why is she being charged? She didn't club anyone.
