I may be running a bit late, because I will be attending a CD release party at the Sheraton tonight between 5-7. It's open to the public, if you'd like to check it out. Karen Ruet will also be exhibiting a series of dance photos she took of me, and Stephen Peacock and Gerry van Wart will be playing classical guitar and promoting their new CD, Milonga.

I'll rush home right afterwards, but unless someone gives us a ride, I'm not sure when we'll get back home. The Sheraton is over a half-hour away on foot.

Ta!

[Stephen Peacock - classical guitarist and cool dude!]The CD launch was a success, at least it looked like and sounded like a success. I'm not sure how many CDs the guys sold, but the ballroom was packed. A few autograph-seekers headed my way, even though I was incognito in rain pants, braid, and a long-sleeved t-shirt--definitely a far cry from the wild-haired dancing glamazon I was in the photo shoot.

I got to see some of the photos again. They're really lovely. Karen Ruet is a terrific photographer, and the photos, both from my photo shoot and from another shoot with three little girls dancing in tall grass, have a definite sweetness to them. She really conveys a dulcet mood of serenity. It's a perfect accompaniment to the music.

Both Gerry Van Wart and Stephen Peacock played well tonight. From my spot at the back of the ballroom, I really couldn't see them at all, but the acoustics were terrific. I heard them just fine! And every now and then, when the milling throngs slouched aside, I could see Stephen's fingers flying across his guitar. They played a three-song set. My favourite piece was their last one. I think it's called "Ghislaine," and I believe they wrote it themselves. I've actually danced to this song before. I think they played it during the photo shoot, and I'm quite positive they played it in Memorial Hall while I danced with Guylaine, Elanya, and Veronica Sweeney. It's the kind of music that makes me want to twirl. Judging from the photos of the little girls, I'd say it has the same effect on them, too....

On an odd little note, Karen had written up a nice blurb to accompany her photos. In it, she referred to me as "a well-known dancer." I saw myself more as a secret, but hey! You become well-known by being referred to as well-known, right? So I guess I am a well-known dancer. I also thought it was a nice touch that Stephen, in his opening address, mentioned I created the costumes in the photos. Maybe someday I'll also be a well-known dance costumer, too! Heh....
