shanmonster: (Don't just sing it--bring it!)
[livejournal.com profile] f00dave went through a psychotic episode on Monday. He has been diagnosed as having paraphrenia, probably triggered by immense stress and pressure. He calls it a spiritual crisis, but in either case, the worst appears to be behind us. He has absolutely no violent tendencies, either toward himself or others.

He has been eating and sleeping regularly, and as of today, seems to be about 99% back to normal. He goes back in for a follow-up visit to the psychiatrist next week.

We have agreed that it is best for him to withdraw from university. He may eventually get back on track with his PhD, but in the meantime, he needs time away from that stressor.

I'll be staying in Fredericton with him for as long as it takes, but we have plans to move to Ontario once everything has stabilized. We hope that won't take too long, but there is no set date for the move.

I'm going to try to get back on at the call centre here. I know it was hell on me, but we are in desperate need of cash. I figure I can handle the job on a part-time basis, and maybe find another part-time job that's not so onerous, as well.

f00 is going to spend the rest of the week collecting his thoughts, doing a bit of research, and regaining some sort of equilibrium.

He has asked that if he engages in "crazy talk," that you let him know. He needs that grounding in reality, and to have it pointed out to him will help him refocus.

And yes, I am doing better, myself. I got a good night's sleep, and have been able to eat more food. At this rate, I'll be back to normal by the end of the week.

We all thank you very much for all the help and good thoughts you've put out. It really helps enormously to know how much everyone cares.
