I am sooo tired. And I have a painful bruise on the back of my neck from where I was resting the weights while I did squats yesterday. Maybe I didn't have the bar in the right place. I'll have to talk to someone to see what, if anything, I'm doing wrong. I didn't find the exercise difficult, just painful. And that can't be right.

I finished modelling this morning, and now I'm on my lunchbreak before modelling again this afternoon. I hope I can get in a long, comfy pose and have a nap. I'm just exhausted. I'll betcha the weather has something to do with it. It's wet out, and looks more like spring than late autumn. The weather has been on crack for the past year, with an extremely early spring, a cold and wet summer, and a long, warm autumn. I'm used to snow by now, but we only had the one snowfall. Am I in eastern Canada or the Bahamas, here? What's with this?

Last night's pie turned out very tasty. I made Caramel Apple Pie, but I had to forego the nuts. I was going to use almonds, but when I opened the package and tried one, I realized they're all stale. Yuck. I've been having bad luck with almonds lately. So I just dumped the castrated caramel all over the pie crust where it pooled in a tasty puddle in the middle. It's so sweet I can barely eat it, but it's a tasty sweet. Still, one piece a day is all I'll be able to manage.

My cold is finally almost gone. It only took seven weeks for it to finish with me, and in that time, I felt very unproductive. Tomorrow, I'm hitting the pave to look for a job. I've had no luck so far. I can't find a place that wants to hire someone for a day job. Everyone wants to hire for bizarre shift work which would destroy my career as a dance instructor. Is there such a thing as a day job anymore? Does everyone only hire for weekends and evenings? Mom told me that Dairy Queen is hiring. I really don't want to work in the fast food industry. But the pay is much higher than for other local jobs, and they also provide medical benefits. I guess I'll have to suck up my pride and apply. It can't be worse than Sobeys, can it?

Anyhow, I must be back off to work. Art school students await....

I made a mock cherry pie which I am taking to a meeting of Ladies Who Game in about 5 minutes! I will (re)post the recipe on my LJ when I get back!

I've never been a fan of real cherry pie, although I love cherries. What did you use for yours?

On a related note, somewhere out there is a recipe for mock apple pie which calls for Ritz crackers instead of apples. Ack!

It uses raisins and cranberries, and it rocks hard. I'll post the recipe later.

I was taught that the back of your neck was mostly a position aid, that you were supposed to support the bar with your hands and arms mostly which spreads the load out more broadly over your lats.

I'm definitely going to have to find some muscley guy to show me proper technique, then.

Sigh. I guess I should wander up there tomorrow, then.

Squats can be very dangerous. I know
a lot of people can really mess up
their knees doing them. I'm not really
sure what muscle they're supposed to
help that other, easier exercises can't.

To the best of my knowledge, my technique is fine. I never bring my knees past my feet. My shins are perpendicular to the ground. My knees aren't bothering me at all. It's the bar across my shoulders that's causing me grief.
