I'm making more progress in my kung fu. Last night, I think I finally got the basics down for Sil Nim Tao, my first Wing Chun form. I must have missed the sessions where we went over the form in detail, because I think I'm the only advanced student in the class who doesn't know it.

Afterwards, I did some sparring. It started off well enough. I fought Pete, and next, I fought Meredith. That's when the bad thing happened. As far as I can tell, we both attempted a low roundhouse kick on one another and pranged our ankles/lower shins. I've been hobbling about ever since. I modelled this morning, and the drawing instructor asked what was wrong with my leg. I hadn't even realized I was limping. If I concentrate, I can keep the limp away, so I'd better do just that this evening. You see, I have a dance performance. If you'd like to check out my limp-free dance, come to the SUB cafeteria tonight at 7:00 on the UNB campus in Fredericton, NB. The event is an AIDS/HIV fund raiser. There will be other dancers, and multicultural entertainment. Tickets are $7 at the door.

Tomorrow, after my Ashtanga class, I'm off to Moncton for the kwoon's Christmas party and a "kung fu Olympics." Although I don't know what the events are, I'll be participating. I sure hope there's a boobie prize, because I can't see myself winning! I'll have some pretty stiff competition. In any case, I don't need to win. I'm just going to do my best and see if I can beat my own records.

*wince* Yeah, banging shins/ankles together is no fun. Last time I did that in karate my shin was swollen for ages.

Btw, have you ever seen that video of the kickboxer breaking his leg kicking another guy's? (It was pretty popular on the internet a few years ago.)

Yeah, I saw that video. Holy wince!

I took a hard hit to my shin about a year and a half ago. It left me with a huge lump. I thought I'd fractured it and had xrays done. At first, the lump was liquid and moveable. f00 was able to roll it up all the way to my hip. Yikes! The doctor said it was fine, though, and to just take it easy until the lump hardened. I named the lump Jonathan.

Jonathan eventually hardened and disappeared. He's still there, but so tiny you can only find it by feeling for it carefully.

Do you have any idea what's in those lumps? Some of my buddies got 'em too, and thought they were just gooey blood.

By the way, in that icon of yours you bear a strong resemblance to the character Moon in "Hero," which I just watched.

IIRC, it was pooled lymphatic fluid.

And yes, she does, doesn't she? ;-)

Zhang Ziyi? I don't look like her. She looks like me!
