I'm pretty sore today, although I've definitely been more sore from a workout. I'm planning on taking it easy today to let my muscles forgive me. I'll bet I'm not as sore as Pete, the winner of the kung fu Olympics, though. I heard he had his elbow dislocated while sparring while I was on my way home from the after party. I guess he's sporting a cast.
When I was eleven years old, I dislocated my knee while wrestling with my Dad. All I remember is I was having fun, and then I was screaming because my knee hurt so badly. Dad reached down while I was screaming and popped my knee back into position, and it was as though the dislocation had never happened. My knee felt fine.
I think it was the same year that I was playing with my cat Orangey. I had a doll cradle, and I was picking Orangey up by the front paws to put him in the cradle when something horrible happened and both shoulders turned inside out. He yowled in the way that only babies and cats can, and I snapped his shoulders back into position. The yowling stopped. Then he purred and bumped his head against my hand, saying thank you. Since then, I have never picked up a cat by its paws.
Both my sister and I have hypermobility. My doctors have always stressed the importance of maintaining good muscle tone in order to prevent injuries. Maybe that's why I've only had one dislocation whereas my sister has them all the time. Her hips and shoulders are always falling out. Yuck/ouch.
I found a silly internet toy last night. This picture is supposed to represent me. It's as close a facsimile as I could make with the available tools. It definitely needs more hair.
