Today was exhausting. I received an interest relief package for my student loan from the government. It specifies I should fill out and return the application within ten days of the date on the letter. The date reads November 8. Kinda late for that, hmm? I'll call them up tomorrow, and hopefully they'll let me apply, anyhow.
Today was also day two of the interview/résumé workshop. I received a whole wack of possible job leads, so the day wasn't a total bust. It was draining, though. I think I'm in the midst of another migraine. I've been stunned and headachey all day, and my vision isn't working the way it ought to. To top it all off, I had yet another job interview while in the midst of this brain malfunctioning. I honestly don't know how I did at the interview. I know parts of it went well, but as for the rest, my mind is blank. In the past, interviews/auditions I attended while under the influence of a megrim have gone very well indeed. So I guess I should just assume the same thing happened with this one.
When I got home, I was drained.
f00dave was a real sweetie and did the dishes for me, because I was just too wiped to even think
about it. So I made us breakfast for supper (bacon, eggs, toast, and tea) while he scrubbed at dirty plates. An Advil and a meal
later, I was feeling a bit better. Watching Pulp
Fiction afterwards helped, too. I gleaned more out of it this time. I think Kill Bill has made me catch more references I hadn't
noticed before. If you like Tarantino's films and haven't watched Pulp Fiction in a few years, give it another shot.
I think it has aged well.
In other news, last night's kung fu class was a bit different from usual. The class was pretty much comprised of just longterm students, so the class was much more cerebral than usual. After going through a few forms and drilling the six punch sequence from Fook Fu and the first nine moves of Sup Bat Sou, we broke into groups. My group practiced Fook Fu, and I asked for clarification on one part near the end.
While we discussed possible applications for the technique, Sifu Ricky came over and had us experiment with that short section. The more we played with it, the more applications we could find. The possibilities seem endless! I swear, we could cure cancer with it given time. So now we have written homework. We are to write out the form, and categorize all the movements into their applications. This is a daunting task. It sounds like I'll be writing an encyclopedia. The really good news is all this pontification seems to have cleared at least one mental block I've had for years regarding this form. Spots I didn't understand have suddenly become clear. As I walked home from class, I practiced the form. In my enormous winter coat, pink gloves, and trailing scarf, I know I looked like a total nutter. And do you know what? I did it again tonight while walking home from my job interview.
I hope my prospective employers didn't see me.
