Subject: I'd hate to be you
You are one sick woman. Very, very sick in the mind. You're also disgusting, rude, obnoxious and evil. I'd hate to be in your shoes. And please................no smart mouth remarks about your shoes not fitting me or vice versa. The majority of the people that stumble upon your sick website thinks you're disgusting. You think you're pretty cute, but you're not. You're evil and sick, sick, sick.
I respond,
Dear Melanie:
I'm not sure which of my various websites you've visited which left you with such a bad opinion of me, but am sorry it left you so enraged. I'm also not certain what makes you certain I am mentally ill, as well as disgusting, rude, obnoxious, or evil. I don't think I am any of these things (although I will readily admit to having a sense of humour which is a tad incomprehensible to some people). My writing may be a bit twee from time to time, but I don't consider myself cute.
Although I can't speak for the majority of people who visit my website, I don't think you can, either.
I don't expect you to change your opinion of me--you come across as a resolute person--but I would like to raise a point. In the future, if you use similar tactics to tell a complete stranger he or she is rude and obnoxious, the same characteristics will also apply to you. Would you approach someone on the street in this way? I'm guessing you wouldn't (although I may be mistaken). The internet has an anonymizing effect for plenty of people. They feel freed to write hateful and discourteous things which they'd never consider saying in person.
Toodles!

They feel freed to write hateful and discourteous things which they'd never consider saying in person. Isn't that the truth - sometimes I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing, though.

Er, unless you were talking about me, and then, answering the hate mails is also keeping me off the streets.
