You know how when you're woken up out of a deep sleep how you feel dizzy and confused? Well, when I woke up yesterday, I felt dizzy just like that. And it stayed for about two or three hours. So I didn't go to karate. From past experience, I've learned that if I feel like that going in, I feel terrible once I've finished the class. I couldn't afford to do that, because I had to teach a dance class in the afternoon.
So I played hookie. Again.
But all was not for naught! SuperBrad and Bloobert came over for a game of Carcassonne, and then Rod of Drums and Machines showed up to discuss the music for our new performance set. Rod and I are apparently taking on a new performer for our set: PIMP-T. I think this is most excellent news! PIMP-T is a consummate stage performer. And Rod's new music is kickin'! In my opinion, it's his best stuff yet. I think it's more accessible, and although he still has his signature muddy, growly bass and vox from before, it's an underlying feature. Melody and rhythm predominate, and the darkness bubbles just beneath. With the new change in performers and music, I think our act may be called Freaky Scene.
In the dance class, I went over camel undulations again (tricky for most beginning students), using hair and the head (as in Zaar trance rituals or Khaleegy dance), and introduced floorwork. Although it will be a long while before any of my students are ready to do backbends to the floor, they now know some good strengthening exercises for their quads. They really seem to like certain moves, like the caterpillar crawl and the Cleopatra leg lift (which I'm sure has an entirely different name with every dance teacher).
Afterwards, my parents took f00 and I out for our anniversary. On Wednesday, we'll have been married for nine years. Holy cow! It feels both like forever and not long enough at the same time. We went to the Snooty Fox, which I figured was inexpensive enough, yet tasty enough, to both not exhaust my parents' meagre funds and assuage their desire to take us someplace nice. I got the vegetable curry, which is delicious. I recommend it, heartily.
Then we went home and waited. Originally, we were supposed to meet up with Girl Jodie and company, but f00's mother was in town for the weekend and wanted to get together with us. Unfortunately, her meeting didn't get out until very late, so our waiting was fruitless. I don't think we'll really get to see her today, because she has to leave right after another meeting to get to her newest granddaughter's exorcism, er, baptism. I always get those sacraments mixed up. Our baby niece Rebecca (I'm not sure on the spelling) gets water splashed on her by a priest today. Yay. I bet she screams the whole time. I heard this baby is a crying machine.
