shanmonster: (Spasmolytic)

I just got this picture of the horse stance competition from the kung fu Olympics a while back. In case you can't guess, I'm the one in the red sports top. And yes, I'm balancing cups on my thighs. I wish my back were straighter, but I'm no Jackie Chan.

I was the only female contestant in the event, and if I remember correctly, I finished in third place. I wonder if I can practice my horse stance while working the phones. Hmm....

[I'm no Jackie Chan]

That looks very painful...but congrats on third place!

It is very painful, but I'm getting better at ignoring the pain. My thighs and butt are getting bigger--probably in an attempt to insulate me from the pain. Ha!

Ouch, it does look painful. I admire how well-toned you all are. :)

The guy in the foreground is the winner of the event. He's in amazing shape, and is in his mid-50s. I'm impressed that someone of his age can regularly beat all the crazy, super-fit 20-year olds.

You know, Shan, I have to wonder if femal physiology makes different positions align differently. Talk to othr female matial artists to find out. Remember, we have wider hips, and it may be that you *have* to curve your back to balance like that.

Just a thought.

No, I can do it with a straight back. I've seen myself do it in the mirror plenty of times. I was just tired during the competition, and got sloppy.
