shanmonster: (hat)
This afternoon, I went with my Mom to Fabricville. They're having a gigantic sale. Luckily for me, I didn't find much that I wanted. I bought three dollars' worth of notions, and left it at that. There were some gorgeous silks and luminescent draperies which would have made splendid costumes, but they're too expensive for me, even on sale. If I knew for certain my wares would sell, then yes, I'd go for it and buy the textiles. But it's all a gamble. Although people seem to really like the stuff I make, and the colour combinations and fabrics I use, they rarely dish out the money to make these things their own. Again, hopefully that shall change this summer, when Fredericton's influx of summer tourists check out my creations.

I left my hair down, today. I do that rarely, nowadays. My hair has gotten so long, that it gets in my way all the time. It's well over two feet long, and is quite a bit wider than my shoulders when it's brushed out. I've discovered the best way for me to keep my hair out of my face is to wear it in sectioned ponytails. I usually wear two. I start the ponytail out like a regular one, then add another elastic about two inches down, then another after another two inches, and so on. The end result looks like a fancy variation of a braid, but with benefits. When I wear braids and do martial arts or dance, any time I do a sudden turn, my hair whips me in the eyes. When I wear my hair in these sectioned ponytails, they don't hit my face at all. They fly around, but don't get in my way. I like that.

I think there's a strange sort of irony in getting more injured while doing housework than when I did full-contact kung fu sparring. I really think I gave myself a minor concussion yesterday. For several hours after whopping myself in the noggin, I felt dizzy, headachey, and cold. And my vision was flakey, too. I feel much better today, although I still feel a bit dazed. Arrr....

In related news, f00 noticed a bruise on my right eye socket this morning. I did get punched twice in that eye on Sunday, so I was wondering if it would ever bruise. Hopefully, it won't turn into a full-on black eye. Although I don't mind explaining bashed up forearms to my dance students, a shiner is significantly more worrisome. Something tells me I shouldn't use Tiger Balm near my eyes, either. Ah well. Hopefully, my left eye socket and jaw won't bruise up, too. I know I got clocked there on Sunday, as well.

I did more modelling for artists, yesterday. One of the guys I spar with is a student at the school, so the rumour mill had already ground out a whisper of a story about our Sunday battles. I'd already warned the instructor the week before that I'd probably be pretty banged up, but something tells me he didn't really believe it until he saw my bruised, gouged naked flesh.

After two and a half hours of relative silence, he finally informed me, "Your left leg's pretty banged up!"

Really? I hadn't noticed....
