Oi. I still feel stunned, but at least I don't feel as stunned as I did yesterday. My headache is gradually going away, but it still hurts around where I smashed my skull into my desk. Unfortunately, my thinking is not up to par, though. I was going to type "receding" instead of "going away" in that second sentence, but I couldn't remember how to spell it. Thoughts and realizations happen in slow motion.

I teach a dance class tonight, and then I'm supposed to go to kung fu immediately afterwards. I guess I'll see how I'm feeling after the dance class. I'll make a judgement then about whether or not I'm feeling capable of kung fu. In any case, I'll get to chat with Sifu Danny and explain my absence on Tuesday.

There is good news, though. For the past month and a half or so, I've been experimenting with my diet. I've tried upping my proteins, decreasing my carbs and fats. I've lost six pounds. Normally, when I lose any weight, I immediately assume it's due to muscle loss. But my weight training continues to progress at the gym, and when I saw my reflection in the mirror last Saturday while teaching dance class, I was pleased. I can see an appreciable difference between my appearance now and my appearance two months ago. My little roll of fat has definitely shrunk in size, and although I still have curves, I my muscles are nicely planar. And this morning, while brushing my teeth, I saw one of my obliques saying hello to me, unencumbered of its usual padding of chub. Hooray for belly muscles announcing their presence! There's something to be said about this diet, and that something is "Yay!"

The little skirt I started sewing last night is almost complete, and it's really cute. It's a pinky-fleshtone chiffon with pink and aquamarine flowers, and has a bottom tier of aquamarine polyester-cotton. The heavier weight on the bottom tier gives the skirt really nice movement. I'm going to put in the waist band and hem up the bottom, and then it will be complete. It's a super-cute little summer skirt, and I hope someone falls in love with it. I even went through the bother of putting in French seams. It's amazing how much more quickly a three-tiered skirt goes than a six- or seven-tiered one.

What sorts of stuff do you go for when you want protein? I probably could stand to get more protein and less everything else.

I've been eating more lean steak, skinless/boneless chicken breast, eggs, tuna, salmon, beans, nuts, and peanut butter. I've cut down on baked goods, ice cream, and nacho chips. I still eat lots of fruit and vegetables, because although they have lots of carbohydrates, they also have lots of vitamins. Besides, too much protein is bad for the kidneys.
