I'm so good.
I biked up the hill without needing to stop today. That's my personal indicator that I'm ready to do distance biking again. Maybe I'll go for a long jaunt on Monday.
And when I got to work, there was free cheesecake. I didn't take a piece. After all, I'd already had a chicken cookie today. That's my junk food for the week.
Long live my diet. No, it's not an oh-my-God-I'm-so-fat sort of diet. It's a let's-eat-optimally diet. So far, it's working very well for me, although other people turn up their noses at the things which I think are tasty. They don't have to eat it. I'm choosing this for myself.
Work is shaping up to be nice and slow tonight. I like it this way. Maybe I'll be able to practice some dance isolation drills between calls....
In the meantime, if you feel like writing to me and giving me some conversation during my slow points, that would be nifty, too!

Date: 2005-03-26 10:00 pm (UTC)From:I have significantly cut down on white carbs since August 2003. It is not working wonders for me, but I have gone from BMI 30 (obese) to 27 (simply fat but not obese). Which is fine with me, because before I was trying to lose weight for YEARS by cutting down on all kinds of fat and all that happened was that I just kept gaining weight.
What kind of things do you eat that other people turn up their noses at? Anyway, that should not bother you. I still get very odd looks, since low-carbing hasn't really caught on in Germany (and I am not doing Atkins; I eat fruit and vegetables galore and even the occasional piece of wholegrain bread). People are like how can you have your dinner without potatoes?
Why not? I never liked them anyway ;-)

Date: 2005-03-26 11:31 pm (UTC)From:I reach for fresh fruit instead of cakes and cookies. I choose unsweetened breakfast cereals. I don't put butter or margarine on my rice or veggies, and I eat brown rice instead of white rice. I also eat whole grain breads rather than white breads.
I've noticed a definite difference in my appearance since I changed my diet. I've become much more lean.
I do miss potatos, though. I love 'em with lots of butter, and haven't had any in a couple of months.

Date: 2005-03-27 10:50 am (UTC)From:Sometimes I miss potatoes, too. Without butter /cheese I don't like them, and the combination of a high glycemic load plus lots of fat is just too fattening.
I have noted a difference in my appearance, too. I am not really slim (at a BMI 27 obviously not LOL), but I have built more muscle mass and my legs and arms seem to be firmer and less wobbly.
