My visit to the doctor was a waste of time. Just as I suspected, there is nothing to be done for my elbow. The doctor looked at it perfunctorially and said, "Give it 6 weeks."

That's about what I figured, but the receptionist had told me I should schedule an appointment. Blargh.

So as not to make the trip a complete waste of time, I asked the doctor to look at my perpetually swollen and sore foot. She prodded it a little, then said that maybe orthotics might help.

Maybe.

Might.

Those are strong words, considering orthotics cost a few hundred bucks.

I asked for a referral to a podiatrist, and was finally given a name and number. I've only been asking for five years. Egad! Now, I'll have to check him out and see if he can do anything useful for me.

After my nonadventure, I went to Fabricville where I was beaten senseless by temptation. I bought liquid metal fabric in blue-silver for a new veil. $10 is a great price for three metres of the stuff. I also bought two huge hunks of sproingy black and sproingy red fabric for a buck a piece. Not too shabby, considering it would normally go for about $40 or so. I want to make a black catsuit and a red dance costume. I wonder when I'll get time to sew again? Hmm....

I'll be missing a kung fu seminar this weekend. I tried finagling time off, but can't find any replacement for the two hours I'd need. Poop.

I have to confess to a bit of jealousy re: fabric prices up there. I went mildly nuts at a little fabric store on Queen St. when I was in Toronto. I found this gorgeous pale blue cotton (very lightweight) with silver threads in the weave for about $3 per metre. Knowing that it would be 3 or more times that price here in Denver - assuming that I could find anything like it - I bought half the bolt.

Someday, I might even have time to make something out of it.

It is possible that your health plan (I would think you'd be covered by one where you work, but perhaps not) covers a fair amount of the cost of orthotics.
