shanmonster: (Spasmolytic)
I didn't get the chance to do my usual tricep cable pulldown today. Someone was hogging it. So I decided to go with some alternative exercises with barbells. That's when I noticed something new: I have numerous striations across my biceps. My body becomes more and more of a contour map as I train. I think I'm at the top of my biorhythmic cycle, right now. I've been overstuffed with energy this past week. It's awesome! I ran my quarter mile today, did my 100 jumping jacks, 50 dragons, and several runthroughs of kung fu forms, and finished feeling like I could have done it for twice as long. I upped more weights down in the gym, too.

On my first break at work, I went outside and practiced with my brand new poi. I think I have the single weave and the butterfly down, now. I can't transition very well, but I think it won't take me much longer to get it. Some of the other tricks look, well, trickier.

Work is pretty slow tonight, which I am grateful for. However, I'm not grateful for the atmosphere in here. Everyone is really loud and talkative, which makes it difficult for me to hear my customers. I've asked them to pipe down once already, and I may have to do it again. I don't want to be a party pooper, but I do want to be able to do my job without distraction.

Oh, shit.

I just realized I'm seeing migraine sparkles. They're not in the usual spot, though. That means it's probably a real migraine, and not my everpresent buddy. ... I just popped an Advil. Hopefully, that will nip it in the bud. If not, I'll have to go home early tonight. I can't work if I can't see. And I don't relish the thought of biking home in traffic while blind.

...

I just warned my supervisor that I'm getting a migraine, and she says there's no problem if I have to go early. It's slow enough here that they won't miss me.

I absolutely love poi spinning..... It's great fun. Heck, it's so much fun I don't mind the huge bruises when I miss.... which thankfully isn't as much anymore.

PS if you haven't tried it yet, ask your Doc about RelPax. It's a great drug in the same genre as Imitrex. Only Relpax is the only migrane med that DOESN"T PUT YOU TO SLEEP. It gets rid of the sparklies and the naseaus feelings first and the headache goes too.

Once in GREAT while i'll need one advil about a half hour later, to get rid of the last of the tightness on the forehead, but it's a great drug.

I've been a migrane sufferer since childhood, and I love it. Midrin, and Dudrin, they sucked, they only put me to sleep for an hour, and I still woke up with the migrane. These rock out.

I'm doing my best to keep off prescription meds. I've been so very, very messed over by them with side effects that I have a well-earned paranoia. My migraines have been much better as of late.

I was doing a google search for wheelbarrow stories (http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&lr=&newwindow=1&q=wheelbarrow+stories) (great search term, eh?) and what did I see about 20 links into the search?

So what is a crazy carpet, anyway? Just a strip of unused carpeting?

The carrot story had me struggling to refrain from laughing like crazy in the middle of my office. Thank you. ;)

A Crazy Carpet is a cheap sled made of a length of heavy-duty plastic. It has holes in the front for a handle. Here's a picture of a kid on one: http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-266153.html

Ah, I had one of those when I was a kid. Never knew they had a special name, though.
