shanmonster | Ripping into myself

I finished the base for my dance girdle this morning. It fits perfectly. It's the best-fitting belt I have. Awesome! Now I just have to finish decorating it, and it's ready to go. I began sewing the chain onto the bra this morning, and it's a frustrating affair. It's cheap-ass costume chain, and the links are weak. I hope it will last a dance. I know it's a bugger to sew with, because if I'm not careful, passing the needle through a link is enough to open the chain and send it tumbling to the floor. I spent the morning swearing, holding chain, cloth, needles, and pins in my hands and mouth. I jabbed myself fiercely more than once, including jamming a wayward straightpin right into the ball of my foot. Damn!

Oh yes, and I want to make myself a choker to match the bra. That will be very easy. I'll use the same black and gold tassel trim that I used elsewhere on the costume. I'm still contemplating what I'll wear on my arms. I'll try my gauntlets on with the costume tonight to see if they match, or if they look too heavy-handed.

Mom brought my dress by today: the one I'll be wearing at the wedding tomorrow. It's a gorgeous purple velvet gown, given to me by Guylaine last summer. I'm sure I'll have photos to show soon.

I go in to have my hair done tomorrow afternoon. I think I'll go for a couple of high ponytails with some sort of fancy curls, ribbons, or the like. That way, I'll be ready to go for both monster-of-the-bride duties and dance patrol.

While walking to work (it's raining, so biking isn't to my liking), I got a bit too warm. I took my jacket off, and yet another wayward pin got me. This time, it was from a brooch, and it ripped a nice tear along my left middle finger. Nice. I'm at work now, waiting for my Midol to kick in. I guess it's good that the cramps got me now, rather than tomorrow....
